The invention relates to a soil conditioner comprising 5-15 parts by weight calcareous sandstone, in particular broken or crushed calcareous sandstone, 2-3 parts of dolomite or limestone, hydrate of lime, other natural minerals which are rich in calcium carbonate, and/or a mixture of hydrate of lime and limestone, and 1-3 parts by weight of gypsum and, if appropriate, colorants conventional for soil conditioners or fertilizers, in particular natural colorants; furthermore processes for the preparation of the soil conditioners. The soil conditioners of the invention are particularly suitable for maintaining an alkaline pH in the treated soils.
