In a fishing reel for basic angling with a spool for the fishing line to which a driven winding head having a pivotable line-catching bracket is assigned, the winding head has a clamping device with a predetermined clamping force for the fishing line released by the line-catching bracket. When the predetermined clamping force is exceeded, the line-catching bracket is pivoted into the working position necessary for spinning. In order to alert the angler to this condition, an alarm device is triggered when the fishing line is released from the clamping device. In the case of an electrical alarm device, the bowl-like winding head is made of a material which does not conduct electricity and its inside floor surface serves as a mounting plate for the individual components of the alarm device, the circuit being formed without soldering joints and the like. As a clamping device, the clamping discs of the adjusting device serve for pretensioning the clamping device and are integrated into the circuit, which remains interrupted until the electrically non-conductive fishing line is detached from the clamping device. <IMAGE>
