In the method for identifying the start of a call, a speech analysis device is provided which, depending on the speed dialling telephone number selected using a name dialling key, receives a predefined message text which is to be identified, which characterises the called terminal and with which the incoming speech information is compared. In the event of correct identification of the message text transmitted from the selected destination, a start signal is sent to the caller's terminal to request acceptance of the call. In the event of uncertain identification, a special signal is transmitted which can indicate that the required called party is not answering in person, or that a wrong connection has been established.
