The invention relates to an electrical multiple plug socket for optional insertion of an earth-contact plug or two Europa flat plugs into a common insertion recess. The unobstructed width of the insertion recess in this case corresponds to the circumferential diameters of the earth-contact plug and to the depth and width dimensions of the Europa flat plugs. The multiple plug socket according to the invention is characterised in that a retaining element, which can be displaced axially in the insertion direction, is inserted into the insertion recess. This retaining element consists of a base plate and of walls which are integrally connected thereto and project on one side against the insertion direction. The base plate and the walls form two retaining spaces corresponding to the external contours of the Europa flat plugs. These retaining spaces are separated from one another by a common centre wall. The regions of the base plate associated with the two retaining spaces in each case have the two plug openings for the contact pins of a Europa flat plug and, arranged centrally between them, in each case one plug opening for a contact pin of an earth contact plug.
