The mechanism for seal-welding an X-ray wire to a continuous length of moving bandage material comprises a welding unit provided with heating means in contact with the material to produce a continuous weld. These means comprise a member which is in contact with and moves with the material and may consist of a heated shaft carrying a rotatable ring. Alternatively, the member may consist of a heated rotatable roller or a heated endless belt. The material may be bandage gauze or consist of non-woven material.
