Aromatised soluble coffee prod. is prepd. as follows: (a) coffee grinder gas is condensed to a frost; (b) the frost is placed in a pressure vessel; (c) the vessel is heated and the frost is allowed to equilibrate at above 32 deg.F/above 506.2 psia to form 3 phases (i) gaseous CO2 and aromatics (I), (ii) liq. CO2 and (I), and (iii) liq. H2O contg. (I); (d) the H2O phase contg. (I) is removed; (e) the H2O phase is extextracted with a glyceride (II) to remove (I); (f) the (I)-contg. glyceride phase is transferred to the pressure vessel of (b); (g) the vessel is heated to 80-85 deg.F/750-850 psi to form 3 phases (i) gaseous CO2 and (I), (ii) liq. CO2 and (I), and (iii) liq. (II) contg. H2O-phase (I); (h) liq. CO2 and gaseous CO2 phases are refluxed in a packed column which is slowly vented to remove 'lean' CO2 from the vessel and concentrate (I) in the glyceride (II) until the pressure drops to 650-700 psia; and (i) the vessel is depressurised and the aromatized glyceride is removed and combined with a soluble coffee powder.
|
