PURPOSE:To improve the intake charging efficiency is each cylinder by allowing the individual intake passages leading to each cylinder from an intake expansion chamber to communicate each other through a communication passage and intalling an opening and closing valve at the opened port part of the communication passage for each individual intake passage, in a multicylinder engine. CONSTITUTION:The individual intake passages 14A-14D which extend from an intake expansion chamber 12 formed inside a tank 11 are connected to the suction ports of the cylinders of a series 4-cylinder engine, and the individual suction passages 14A-14D communication each other through a communication passage 40. The capacity of said communication passage 40 is formed relatively small by partitioning the inside of the tank 11 from the intake expansion chamber 12 by a partitioning wall 42, and an opening and closing valve 44 is intalled at the opened port part for the passages 14A-14D. Said opening and closing valve 44 is controlled so as to be opened through a rod 46 by the driving means such as diaphragm mechanism when at least the number of engine revolution is within a high revolution range over a prescribed number of revolution or in idle revolution.
