<p>When drying sludge, in particular sewage sludge, which in general is charged to a dryer after preceding dehydration in a centrifuge, the sludge is contacted with hot gases from a combustion installation. However, it is a disadvantage in this case that all drive units of the equipment must be driven by external energy, so that the heat energy of the hot gases generated in the combustion installation cannot be utilised in an optimised manner. According to the invention, however, an optimised utilisation of the heat energy present in the hot gases for the drying of sludge and the essential operation of the plant is achieved when the hot gases are generated in a gas turbine (5) with a combustion chamber (6) and a generator (7). In this way, the energy present in the hot gases can, on the one hand, be very advantageously utilised for the generation of electric power or for operating the plant and, on the other hand, for drying and, if appropriate, deodorisation of the sludge in an optimised manner. <IMAGE></p> |
