PURPOSE:To make an analytical element stable, in an analytical element wherein a reagent layer and a developing layer are laminated onto a support, by containing a buret reagent, a non-protenaceous hydrophylic polymer and a specific anionic surfactant to constitute the reagent layer. CONSTITUTION:A reagent layer and a prous developing layer are successively laminated onto a transparent permeable support. A non-proteinaceous hydrophilic polymer, for example, polyacrylamide, a buret reagent for example, tartarate or a cupric salt and an anionic surfactant respresented by formulae [wherein R1 and R2 are a 3-16C alkyl group, R3 is a 3-18C alkyl group and an alkenyl group, X is a direct bond or -O-(CH2CH2O)1-5, Z is a direct bond or -O-(CH2CH2 O)0-5, n is 1-3, m is 1-5 and Y is a monovalent cation)] are contained in the reagent layer. Because the specific anionic surfactant is contained in the reagent layer, the capacity of an analytic element can be made stable for a long period of time.
