PURPOSE:To easily mount a developing device on a support and to eliminate malfunction in image formation by providing a detecting means which dis criminates a developer that each developing device contains and controlling the movement of the support for holding plural developing devices on the basis of the detection signal of the detecting means. CONSTITUTION:The detecting means for discriminating the respective developing devices is provided and, for example, a magnet is arranged on the flank of each developing device. Namely, magnets 11Y, 11M, 11C and 11B are provided to the developing devices 4Y, 4M, 4C and 4B and arranged at positions which are different radially from the center of rotation of a rotating body. Then, hole ICs 12Y, 12M, 12C and 12B are arranged at development positions on the tracks of the magnets 11Y, 11M, 11C and 11B during the rotation of the rotating body 40 so that they correspond to the magnets. Consequently, a developing device which contains the developer of an optional color is mounted in the storage chamber of the rotating body 40 and the order of mounting of the developing devices is determined optionally. |
