The combustion of the petrol/air mixture in an I.C. engine is produced by a sparking plug (10) having a spark produced between two electrodes (14,16). A sparking plug cable (26) leads to the plugs and contains two conduits (18) for supplying hydrogen and oxygen gases into the spark gap (12). The I.C. engine also includes a valve for causing the introduction of hydrogen and oxygen gas into the spark plug to be intermittent. This valve includes a commutator having a rotor and stator, each including a pair of conduits which register with each other at predetermined points during the rotation of the commutator rotor. The conduits in the stator are contained within conductors which connect to the sparking plug wire (26). |
