Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXXII] A continuous resilient mounting strip 32 for a curved vehicle windshield 30 comprises a channel 136 with drainage grooves 160, 162, ribbed sides 144, 154, and raised from its base, a rib 156 with a flexible lip 158, and an overlapping oppositely directed channel 138 having drainage grooves 172, 176, the two channels communicating with each other, along the base adjacent the sides of the strip 32, by means of cross-over passages, 184 formed in a leg portion 152 between the two channels. Additional passages 188 in a wall 170 of the channel 138 drain into a trough 82 which is arranged around the lower edge of the windshield and is provided with drain tubes 134 in the vicinity of the cross-over passages 184. When the strip is mounted in the vehicle, the edge of the windshield 30 and a continuous flange 57 around the opening are received respectively in the channels 136, 138, flexible lips 146, 148, projecting from a surface 150, engaging a portion 54 of the window surround.</p> |
