PURPOSE:To correct easily a mis-input by replacing characters stored in a storage means by the operation of a command key with alternate characters fed from a supply means. CONSTITUTION:A character inputted from an input device 5 is fetches to a microprocessor MPU 4 and stored in a storage means. The character is displayed on a CRT 1 according to a display pattern stored in a video RAM 2 under the control of a display controller 3. A cursor is moved to a position of a desired character displayed on the CRT 1 by the operation of a cursor movement command key K 4 commanding the movement of the cursor of the device 5, the MPU 4 extracts alternate characters from an auxiliary alternate data table stored in a disc device 6 by the operation of a substitution key K 5 commanding the replacement of data and gives control to replace the characters designated by the cursor with the alternate characters. Thus, correction/deletion of a character inputted in error is executed easily.
