PURPOSE:To produce steel shot with very high productively by utilizing steel making slag produced in a novel steel making process including a desiliconizing stage and a dephosphorizing and desulfurizing stage. CONSTITUTION:In the 1st stage, 3-20% material lowering m.p. and viscosity and also acting as a slag modifier is added to molten steel making slag 11 produced during dephosphorization and desulfurization in a ladle 10, and gas is blown into the slag 11 through a lance 12 to carry out bubbling. In the 2nd stage, the slag 11 is poured into a bottom pouring ladle 14, the ladle 14 is hermetically sealed with a cover 21, and pressure is applied to the inside of the ladle 14 to drop the slag 11 on a rotating disk 17 from the bottom pouring hole 15. The dropped slag 11 is scattered to the periphery of the disk 17. During the scattering metal is separated from the slag 1, granulated to a prescribed size and solidified by contact with water from spray pipes 25 in the 3rd stage. The solidified metal is separated with a magnetic separator 26 in the 4th stage, and it is decarburized and hardened is the 5th stage.
