PURPOSE:To recognize the shape of the defect and to execute the quality deciding processing at a high speed by scanning the whole area of an object to be inspected, extracting an area only where the defect is assumed to occur, and digitizing and storing the video signal at the area. CONSTITUTION:An inspection object 101 is photographed by a video camera 102, the whole surface is successively scanned and a video signal 1a is outputted. An inspection condition is visually observed by a video monitor 103, inputted into a picture processing device 104 and a defective signal 1b is outputted. Into the signal 1a, a texture ordinary part 201 of the inspection object and a level decreasing part 202 due to the dirt, etc., are included. A reference level 2b approximate to the texture ordinary part 201 of the signal 1a is generated, a slice level 2c to subtract a threshold 2f a little lower than a level 2b is generated, the level 2c and the signal 1a are compared, and a defective area 2e to exceed the level 2c is obtained. A gate video signal 2d only to extract the obtained area 2e is stored to a memory circuit as a processing object. |
