PURPOSE:To correct a character string keyed in a state shifted in the 1st kind character into the 2nd kind character string by providing a means changing the 1st kind character of a character string into the 2nd kind character according to the conversion list between the 1st and 2nd kind characters. CONSTITUTION:The character string inputted in a state while a shift key of an alphanumeric and English letters from a keyboard device 1 is stored temporarily in an input buffer 3 via an input/output controller 2. When a character string correcting device 5 receives a character string correction request from the device 1 via the controller 2, the device 5 checks the character string stored in the buffer 3 and references the conversion list 4 when an alphanumeric or English letter exists, and replaces the letter into a Kana (Japanese syllabary) corresponding to the said alphanumeric or English letter. When the check and change of the character string are finished, the device 5 informs the end of the character string correction processing to the controller 2. When the device 2 receiving its notice sends the content of the buffer 3 to a host-system information processor 6 and becomes in the input waiting state from the device 1.
