PURPOSE:To detect the end of a heat transfer ink ribbon by a simple constitution in which the detection of the ink ribbon end is made on the basis of shortcircuit signals between guide pins. CONSTITUTION:When the ink-coated portion of an ink ribbon 5 is present between guide pins 24 and 25, the area between the guide pins 24 and 25 in the circuit is electrically insulated. Also, where there is the conductive portion of the ink ribbon 5, the area between the guide pins 24 and 25 is electrically short- circuited, thereby sending out an end detection signal of the ink ribbon 5. The needs for a photo sensor to detect the end of the ink ribbon 5 can thus be eliminated, and therefore, the cassette 4 can be miniaturized and the cost can be reduced. |
