PURPOSE:To reduce the effects of thermal expansion of a shadow mask by embracing each corner of a frame with a spring which is bent round the corner and is fixed on a panel pin at its one end and on the frame at its other end via a bimetal supporting member. CONSTITUTION:A frame 5 which supports a shadow mask 6 is installed on the panel 1 of a color picture tube through bimetal supporting members 24 and springs 23. Springs 23a-23d are bent along two sides containing the respective corners of the frame 5, with one side ends welded to the frame 5 via bimetal supporting members 24a-24d and the other ends fitted to panel pins 22a-22d on the inside of the panel 1. The amount of compensation, for the case where deflection angle of the color picture tube is small or the radius of curvature of the shadow mask 6 is large, is increased without changing the bimetal material. Thus deterioration of the color purity due to thermal expansion can be effectively prevented. |
