PURPOSE:To prevent completely a thin-film transistor (TR) from being broken down electrostatically by rubbing a substrate surface while holding respective TRs on. CONSTITUTION:Display picture elements 3 and thin-film TRs 4 are arranged on a matrix liquid crystal display substrate, which is rubbed against while drain lines 1 which are short-circuited mutually outside a cutting line 7 is connected to the minus side of a power source 6 and gate lines 2 are connected to the plus side, and the substrate is cut along the cutting line 7 to disconnected the power source 6. Thus, static electricity generated at display picture elements is discharged to drain lines while the rubbing processing is carried out with the TRs 4 on to prevent completely a TR from being broken down electrostatically.
