A paper or board dryer comprises upper and lower sets of heated drying drums about which the web runs sinuously in cooperation with upper and lower endless felts which also travel about felt guide rolls along with the web. The guide rolls are perforated and are divided into one portion applying air pressure and another applying vacuum. The web is always supported as it runs between rolls and drums.
