PURPOSE:To reduce power loss of an engine, by fixing a rotor of a generator at an end of a crank shaft and disengageably connecting a starter driven gear supported to a crank case cover to the outside of the rotor of the generator. CONSTITUTION:A crank shaft 1 is rotatably supported to a crank case 2, and an end portion of the crank shaft 1 is outwardly projected from the case 2. A rotor of a generator 7 is fixed at the end portion of the crank shaft 1. A starter driven gear 20 is rotatably supported to a crank case cover 10, and is disengageably connected through a one-way clutch 24 to the outside of the rotor of the generator 7. The gear 20 is drivingly connected to a starter motor 12. With this arrangement, after starting an engine, the starter driven gear 20 is at rest on the crank case cover 10, and no friction is generated between the gear 20 and a rotational part of the engine. Accordingly, power loss of the engine may be reduced, and it is not necessary to support the starter driven gear 20 by a needle bearing and the like. |
