PURPOSE:To prevent a short-circuit between a cathode and respective neighboring electrodes by removing a part or the whole of one side of the oxide coated cathode of linear cathodes, while a linear damper provided in the direction to cross the cathodes may contact with said parts. CONSTITUTION:An electron generation part in a plate-shaped image tube is formed by providing the vertically scanning electrodes 2 on a support 1 made of a glass plate or the like in the arrangement at a prescribed pitch while spanning plural pieces of linear cathodes 3 so as to perpendicularly cross said electrodes. Thereby, the oxide cathodes 5 applied to tungsten lines 4 or the like of the linear cathodes 3 are removed on a part or the whole on the side of the vertically scanning electrodes 2. And it is so constituted that a linear damper 8 made of a glass fiber or the like provided in the direction to cross the cathodes 3 may contact with said parts. Accordingly, a short-circuit with the neighboring electrodes and damage of the cathodes 3 can be prevented thus improving reliability while removing mechanical vibration of the cathodes 3. |
