PURPOSE:To prevent any distortion of the landing of the electron beam from occurring near supports for supporting the electrodes on a display plate so as to achieve uniform display by installing a deflecting auxiliary electrode between a deflecting electrode device and the supports. CONSTITUTION:A display device is assembled by supporting a back electrode 2, a linear cathode 3, a first grid electrode 4, a first deflecting electrode device 5, an electron-beam-controlling electrode device 11, a second deflecting electrode device 14 and an accelerating electrode device 20 in that order on supports 23 located on a display plate 16. A deflecting auxiliary electrode 25 is installed between electrodes 15 of the second deflecting electrode device 14 and one of the supports 23. A voltage of about 10kV is applied to the supports 23, a voltage of 200-700V is applied to the electrodes 15 of the device 14 and a voltage of 100-600V is applied to the auxiliary electrode 25. Due to the above structure, the electron beam is prevented from being excessively deflected toward the supports 23 around them to achieve uniform landing thereby improving display quality. |
