PURPOSE:To record images excellent in color development property, clearness, preservability or the like, by a method wherein a recording material comprising a cation-modified product of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) at a recording surface thereof is used, and an ink comprising a water-soluble dye is used for recording. CONSTITUTION:An ink comprising a water-soluble dye is used as a recording agent, and recording is conducted by adhering ink droplets to a recording material, which comprises cation-modified PVA. The cation-modified PVA is a PVA having a cationic group such as primary-tertiary amino group and a quaternary ammonium salt group in a main chain or side chains thereof. The amount of the cationic groups retained in the cation-modified PVA in terms of molar fraction of monomeric units in the polymer is such that the cationic groups constitute 2-20mol% of the total amount of monomeric units. Accordingly, excellent ink receptivity, dryability, fixability or the like can be ensured in recording, and images with excellent clearness, preservation stability or the like can be obtained after the recording. |
