PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality pictures by easily detecting the amounts of ink with good accuracy by a method in which one end of an ink tank is connected to an ink supply tube leading to an ink head and the tubular or hole form ink path whose other end is opened is extended by positioning its center on the horizontal face. CONSTITUTION:Tubes 7 are arranged with high density in an ink tank 5, and a supplementary ink tank 11, an ink tank 5, and head 1 are connected through an ink supply tube 2 by a three-way cock 12. When supplying ink, the tanks 11 and 5 are connected with each other by operating the cock 12, and the direction of the head 1 is closed. Since the tank 11 is higher than the position of the tank 5, ink 4 is allowed to fill up the tubes 7 in the tank 5. At a time when the meniscus of ink in the tubes 7 goes beyond the position of an electrode 10, the cock 12 is closed to stop the charge of ink 4. The position of the meniscus 6 of ink is detected by sensing the reduction of resistance value between the electrodes 8 and 10. |
