PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable display unit which is small in size and low in cost, by using an electrooptic shutter element and base of character display file for the display unit. CONSTITUTION:A film 10, on which words 'Being Used' are printed, is provided on the back of an electrooptical shutter element, such as color liquid crystal, in which words 'Being Ceased' are contained in the form of a pattern, etc. The shutter element 9 becomes transparent when it is active. Moreover, a lighting lamp 6 is provided on the back of the film 10. When an automatic machine is not usable or power supply is disconnected, the shutter element 9 is controlled to an inactuated condition and caused to display the words 'Being Ceased' as shown in Fig. (a). On the other hand, the shutter element 9 is actuated and made optically transparent, and then, caused to display the words 'Being Used' under a usable condition. |
