PURPOSE:To prevent a ribbon from being pushed up or down, by pressing also a non-printing stage of a ribbon against a platen when pressing a printing stage of the ribbon against the platen for printing. CONSTITUTION:For example, when printing is conducted by using only the upper half of an ink ribbon 4 and the ribbon 4 is completely taken up, the entire body of a ribbon cassette 5 is inverted upside down, and the remaining half of the ribbon is used. In this case, a partial glaze 3b layer is provided on the surface of a thermal head 3, heating resistors 3a are provided thereon, and a ribbon-pressing projected part 3c is provided on the lower side thereof. Relative positions of a platen roller 1, the head 3 and the ink ribbon 4 are so set that the lower part of the ribbon 4 is pressed by the projected part 3c simultaneously when the upper part of the ribbon 4 is pressed against a transfer recording paper 2 on the platen roller 1 by the heating resistor 3a part. Accordingly, the tension in the surface of the ribbon is uniform in vertical direction, the ribbon is prevented from being pushed up or down, and stable ribbon moving performance can be obtained. |
