PURPOSE:To exclude the adverse effect of powder caused by abrasion onto a recording/reproducing signal by providing a recess near a magnetic pole for receiving/giving a signal magnetic field from/to a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Two slots 13a, 13b are formed nearly in parallel with the lengthwise direction of an end face 12a at both sides of the end face 12a with a prescribed width and depth. A magnetic disc 2 slides in the direction of arrow X while sliding onto a medium sliding face 12 of a main magnetic pole 50, powder due to abrasion is produced due to abrasion between the main magnetic pole 50 and a magnetic disc 2, the powder is adhered in the vicinity of ridges of the pole 50 crossed with a plane of the medium sliding face 13 and become adhered abrasion powder 14. In using the head further, the abrasion powder 14 is exfoliated and invaded between the magnetic disc 2 and the medium sliding face 13, caught by the slot 13a as the abrasion powder 14a and fallen off, but the powder does not reach the end face 12a of the main magnetic pole film 12. Similarly, the abrasion powder produced at the right side of the end face 12a is caught in the slot 13b as the abrasion powder 14b. |
