PURPOSE:To obtain a reforming furnace as a simple apparatus by reforming raw material gas by heat exchanging the raw material gas flowing through a reaction vessel with combustion gas flowing through a space between the reaction vessel and combustion partition wall by constructing the reaction vessel having hollow double layered structure on the inside wall of a furnace main body. CONSTITUTION:A hollow double layered reaction vessel 13 is constructed along the inside wall of a furnace main body 11 and a combustion partition wall 17 is formed confronting the inside wall of the reaction vessel 13. Gaseous mixture of fuel gas and air is fed from a feeding port 12 of the fuel gas and burnt. Generated combustion gas E is allowed to flow downward through a passage between the combustion partition wall 17 and the inside wall of the reaction vessel 13. At the same time, raw material gas G is fed from a feeding port 15 of the raw material gas, which is allowed to flow upward through a reaction chamber 13a contg. reaction catalyst 14 in a hollow double layered reaction vessel 13. The gas is heat-exchanged with the combustion gas E, heated at high temp. and reformed to hydrogen-rich gas H. After transferring the sensible heat to the raw material gas G in the outside hollow part 13b of the reaction vessel 13, the gas is discharged from an exit 16 of reformed gas. |
