PURPOSE:The titled product, containing a distillate obtained by heating a distillate of a deodorized vegetable oil in the presence of a storing acid and steam distilling the resultant distillate under reduced pressure as an active constituent, having a low melting point, rapidly soluble in oil for forming a gel at low temperatures, and useful as a raw material for cosmetics and medicines and having high safety. CONSTITUTION:An oil-soluble gelling agent obtained by heating a deodorized distillate of a deodorized vegetable oil, e.g. rapseed oil, in the presence of preferably 0.05-5wt% strong acid, e.g. sulfuric acid, usually under conditions of 150-240 deg.C under 1-10mmHg vacuum degree for 1-7hr, washing the distillate with water, drying the washed distillate, steam distilling the distillate under reduced pressure, preferably 240-300 deg.C, under 2-10mmHg vacuum degree and purifying the resultant distillate with preferably acetone, etc., and using the resultant purified distillate as an active constituent. |
