An aqueous detergent composition which remains clear at 40-80 DEG F. comprises, by weight, (a) 10-25 per cent of sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, preferably one in which the dodecyl group is derived from propylene tetramer, (b) 1-5 per cent of fatty acid monoethanolamide in which the fatty acid moiety contains 10-14 carbon atoms and is preferably derived from coconut oil, (c) 2-10 per cent of potassium pyrophosphate, (d) 10-12 per cent of urea, (e) 5-10 per cent of ethanol, and (f) either 1.5-4 per cent of citric acid, or 1.5-3 per cent of tartaric acid, or 2-4 per cent of salicylic acid, the pH of the composition being 5-7. Perfume, colour, optical bleach anti-tarnish agents, and sodium sulphate associated in small amounts with (a) may also be present. According to the Provisional Specification, ingredient (a) may be a sodium alkylbenzene sulphonate containing 9-15 carbon atoms in the alkyl group. |
