PURPOSE:To scrap up efficiently settled sand in accordance with the variations in the amt. of deposited sand by reducing the number of parts and driving sources. CONSTITUTION:A traveling device 22 is traveled and stopped above a settling basin 20, a pair of arms 23 and 24 is lowered into the settling basin 20, a chain 38 equipped with buckets is brought down into the settling basin 20 by moving a take-up sprocket 33, the chain 38 equipped with buckets is rotated and settled sand is collected and scraped up. The looseness of the chain 38 equipped with buckets due to the oscillation of the arms 23 and 24 is absorbed by the movement of the take-up sprocket 33. Consequently, since a traverser, etc., can be dispensed with, the number of driving sources is reduced, the number of control switches is also decreased and the operation is facilitated. Besides, when settled sand is collected and scraped from one end of the setting basin 20 to the other end, the ruggedness on the surface of deposited sand is flattened by the weight of the chain 38 and the settled sand can be efficiently collected and scraped up.
