The invention relates to a burner on a heating boiler, in which a nozzle for the atomisation of a liquid fuel is situated at the end of a fuel pipe which is arranged axially in an essentially cylindrical tubular burner head. The features of the invention consist in that there is fastened on the fuel pipe 2, in its rear region, an annular chamber 7 which surrounds the fuel pipe 2 coaxially and into which a gas supply pipe 9 opens, which is guided through the burner and can be connected to a gas supply line. From the annular chamber 7, a number of gas nozzle pipes 10 run axially parallel inside the burner head 1 to its mouth where they end approximately in the region of the nozzle 3 for the atomisation of a liquid fuel. The gas nozzle pipes 10 in each case have in the end section a number of nozzle openings 11 which are directed towards the axis of the burner head 1, and are closed at their front ends. <IMAGE>
