Outside rear view mirror for motor vehicles

The invention is based on outside rear view mirrors for motor vehicles, it being possible for reasons of safety to fold down the head which accommodates the mirror body in the direction opposite to the direction of travel of the vehicle and a snap connection which is effected by means of a leaf spring being provided between the base and head of the mirror. As a result of the invention, the disengagement resistance of this connection is to be and/or remain large, while the engagement resistance is to be small. For these reasons, the base engages by means of a projection into a bend of the leaf spring, the bend, which takes the form of a recess, being situated between two contact positions of the leaf on the head and the section of the leaf spring situated between these contact positions being bent in such a way that the said section is shortened by bending when the head is retracted and the section runs onto the projection as a result, and is virtually released from one contact point.
