The invention relates to a buffer stop for safeguarding a stopped train in an inclined track, which is movable between a basic position and a working region, made with buffer stop arms which are lowerable in a profile-free manner, and connected to a drive traction means as well as movable thereby towards the stopped train, with a support frame which bears the buffer stop and to the front and rear end of which in each case a bogie truck is connected, which is supported with its wheels on a trackway support stand fixed on the track grid, the front and rear bogie truck in each case being connected to the support frame via pivot axes aligned transversely to the track grid and parallel to the sleepers, catch cams arranged on the support frame and counter-catch cams arranged on the trackway support stand as well as control means arranged in the region of the front bogie truck, which in the working position of the buffer stop raise the front end of the support frame in such a manner that the catch cams come into contact in a locking manner with the counter-catch cams, while the rear supports of the buffer stop, which engage on the rear end of the support frame seen in the direction of travel, bring about a lowering of the rear end of the support frame by pivoting the rear bogie truck about the pivot axis assigned to it.
