In a heat exchanger for a heating or air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle, two blocks of pipe bundles are provided which are arranged adjacent to one another and in at least two rows, one behind the other, which rows are connected to one another at one end by a deflection and, at the other end, open into a water tank. The water tank is subdivided, corresponding to the rows of pipe bundles, by a longitudinal wall into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, the inlet chamber being subdivided by a transverse wall into two sections which are each allocated to one of the blocks and are provided with an inlet opening. The outlet chamber is provided, at one end side of the water tank, with an outlet opening and with at least one flow distribution device effecting a homogenisation of the flow from the blocks. The inlet openings can be arranged at the same end side of the water tank.
