In the case of a 2-bit reflection phase shifter, both phase-shifter stages are matched to one another such that the logic combination of the switching states of the two switching diodes of the 90 DEG -bit stage is separated and in each case only one of three diodes still draws current, on average. The essential feature in this case is that the diode at the end of the reflection line loads the line capacitively in the blocked state, and, together with the line piece up to the 90 DEG -bit stage, transforms a short-circuit on its diode on the reflection side.
