PURPOSE:To increase the electric resistance between layers of a thin strip of an amorphous magnetic alloy obtd. by supper quenching from a molten state without deteriorating the superior magnetic characteristics by anodizing the thin strip in an electrolytic soln. to form an insulating oxide film. CONSTITUTION:The thin strip of the amorphous magnetic alloy is produced by supper quenching from a molten state by a twin-roll method or other method and it is used as a thin magnetic strip having a small iron loss and giving the iron core of a power transformer, a high frequency transformer or the like. The thin strip is anodized in an electrolytic soln. contg. sodium aluminate to form an Al2O3 layer on the surface. The electric resistance between layers of the thin strip laminated is remarkably increased by the Al2O3 layer, an increase in the iron loss due to an eddy current between the layers is controlled and the corrosion resistance is improved. ZnO2, TaO2 or other oxide may be utilized in place of Al2O3.
