PURPOSE:To improve the uneven brightness and to reduce the tube length of a fluorescent tube, by arranging lengthwise a portion where the volume of phosphor is reduced or omitted, and adjusting the width of such a portion according to the distance from the electrodes, to control the brightness feature. CONSTITUTION:In the fluorescent tube of this invention, the brightness feature is adjusted by arranging the peak brightness portion fully applied with the phosphor, or, with little area of no or little phosphor applied, and portions near the both electrodes with a considerable area of no or little phosphor applied. Therefore, the uneven brightness is eliminated, and moreover, the effective luminous length to the full fluorescent tube length is larger, to get a better space efficiency.
