<p>The reaction of the organolanthanide complexes ¨ADθ5-(CH3)5C5¨BD2MC12Li((C2H5)2O)2, M = La, Nd, Sm, Lu, with LiCH¨ADSi(CH3)3¨BD2 provides a straight-forward route to ether-free and halide-free bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) lanthanide alkyls, (θ5(CH3)5C5)2MCH-¨ADSi(CH3)3¨BD2. The (θ5(CH3)5C5)2NdCH¨ADSi(CH3)3¨BD2 complexes react with H2 under mild conditions to yield the corresponding hydrides ¨AD(θ5(CH3)5C5)2MH¨BD2. These complexes have been found to be extremely active homogeneous olefin polymerization catalysts, as well as catalysts for olefin and acetylene hydrogenation.</p> |
