ONE-SURFACE AND BOTH-SURFACE COPYING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To obtain a both-surface copy which provides no distress to confirmation and an economical one-side copy with only a small storage space by providing a paper thickness detecting means to a copying machine with a both-surface copying function, and stopping both-surface copying operation when thin paper is detected. CONSTITUTION:The one-surface and both-surface copying machine has a both- surface copying function and photocoupler units P and P' connecting with a paper thickness signal generating means are so arranged between the register roller 14 and paper feed rollers 13 and 13' as to detect the quantities of transmitted light of sheets 110 and 110' of paper which are conveyed slightly out of paper feed cassettes 10 and 10' and stopped. When detection result data on only the recording paper 110' is inputted as paper thickness information, both-surface copying operation is not performed and when data on only the thick recording paper 110 is inputted, the copying operation is performed in both modes, thereby obtaining the both-surface copy which provides no distress to confirmation and the one-surface copy which is economical with only a small storage space.
