The invention is concerned with improving a cleaning apparatus for conveyor belt installations, in which an oblique scraper is arranged on the lower strand in the vicinity of the deflector cylinder. According to the invention, provision is made for the oblique scraper to have receiving apparatuses whose pistons, arranged in a cylinder, have a thickened portion at the upper end, and for a first compression spring to be arranged between the underside of the thickened portion and the lower limit of the cylinder and for a second compression spring to be arranged between the upper side of the thickened portion and a piston assigned to a setting apparatus. Substantial advantages arising are that the oblique scraper rests on the lower strand in a defined manner and can readily avoid irregularities in the lower strand, for example the seam. As a result, gentle cleaning of the belt is achieved and the cleaning strips of the scraper, consisting of rubber or plastic, have a long service life.
