PURPOSE:To make head cleaning work simple and efficient by providing a magnetic memory area to the cleaning flexible disk to clean the head of the flexible disk device. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning flexible disk 1 prevents the damage of the disk, sandwiched by a liner 2, accommodated in a jacket 3, and composed of a part 4 to be able to execute the magnetic recording and a part 5 in which the quality of the material to contact the head and clean it is coated. When the starting of the cleaning is indicated, the number of times of the use is read from a magnetic recording part 4 of the disk 1, and when the life of the disk 1 is expired, the matter is informed to the user and the disk is accelerated. When the disk can be used, in a head cleaning execution part 5, a head seek is executed for several seconds and cleaning is executed, the number of times of the use of the magnetic recording part 4 is renewed and completed. Thus, it is not necessary to record the number of times of the use, and the head cleaning can be executed simply.
