The present invention relates to an apparatus for collecting and temporarily storing sheets, particularly sheets in wet or damp condition, and it is particularly suitable for use in connection with the automatic processing of photographic diffusion transfer materials of the peel-apart type. The apparatus of the invention comprises an accumulator roll (7) in association with constraining guide means such as a belt (18) which causes the sheets (23) to pass around and accumulate on the roll (7). The belt (18) can yield away from the roll (7) to allow progressive accumulation of sheets on the roll and accumulated sheets can be periodically removed from the apparatus, preferably by removing the roll (7).
