The apparatus has a rotor with a vertical rotating axis. On each rotor arm (3) is a vertical driving blade (4), mounted so as to swing freely around a vertical swinging axis located close to the front edge of the blade. A compensation mass (11) is contained in a blade projection (10) jutting out from the front edge of the blade. The total mass centre of gravity (12) of the structure consisting of the driving blade (4) and the compensation mass (11) is located in front of the swinging axis (8) of the driving blade (4). The driving blade (4) is designed to have an assymetrical wing profile. It adjusts itself during each turn of the rotor to the respective optimum angle of incidence. The wind energy converter also has a high degree of efficiency at medium and low speeds and is self-actuating. |
