PURPOSE:To obtain a large gear reduction ratio, by disposing a second pinion shaft between a first pinion shaft rotating in association with a steering wheel and a rack shaft. CONSTITUTION:A second pinion shaft 21 serving as an intermediate shaft is disposed in the hollow space of a gear box 1 above the rack 9 of a rack shaft 8 and the pinion 12 of a first pinion shaft 11. Further, the rear pinion 22 of the second pinion shaft 21 is meshed with the pinion 12 of the first pinion shaft 11, and the front pinion 23 of the pinion shaft 21 is meshed with the rack 9. Further, the second pinion shaft 21 is journalled to a bearing cage 31, and a pressurizing mechanism 46 is disposed between the bearing cage 31 and the gear box 1.
