PURPOSE:To execute unidirectional solidification type horizontal and continuous casting by the constitution consisting in pouring a molten steel into a casting mold provided with side walls on both sides of a turning type endless tracked vehicle made into a water-cooling construction, cooling the bottom wall with the cooling power larger than the cooling power for the side walls and insulating the heat of the top surface of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel M is poured from a tundish 6 into the casting mold consisting of the endless tracked vehicle 1 of which the inside of the bottom wall is made into the water-cooling construction, the side wall 3 and a gate means 4 and the steel ingot M' is horizontally drawn out. The bottom wall of the endless tracked vehicle 1 is cooled with the cooling power larger than the cooling power for the side walls 3 and the top surface of the molten steel M is coated with a heat insulating material 7 to accelerate the unidirectional solidification of the ingot M'. The unidirectional solidification type horizontal and continuous casting device having the excellent durability and maintainability is thus obtd. and the production of the ingot having good quality is made possible.
