PRODUCTION OF CASTING MOLD

PURPOSE:To make possible the accelerated curing of a casting mold without generating a toxic gas and the extension of the pot life thereof and to improve the safety and economy of casting mold production by forming the mold of a sand mixture prepd. by adding a specific binder, curing catalyst and pot life extending catalyst to refractory aggregate then curing the mold under ventilation of air. CONSTITUTION:The binder which is a thermosetting resin such as furan resin and phenolic resin, the curing catalyst which is an org. sulfonic acid such as benzensulfonic acid and toluene sulfonic acid and the aluminum salt or ammonium salt of the org. sulfonic acid as the pot life extending catalyst are added and mixed to and with the refractory aggregate. The casting mold is made of such sand mixture and is cured under ventilation of air. The curing strength of the casting mold is accelerated without the generation of the toxic gas and the pot life is extended, by which the casting mold production is made safer and more economical.
