PURPOSE:To prevent misoperations from occurring, by a method wherein the opened or closed condition of a cover and the fitting or detachment of a replacement part are detected, and completion of the replacement thereof is accurately discriminated. CONSTITUTION:With a front cover 3 closed after setting a cover-close condition, a cover-open signal CVS is brought to a high level, whereby an output from an AND circuit 129 is brought to a high level. At the time t6 when the cover 3 is closed, the output from the circuit 129 falls, a trigger pulse P1 is outputted from a trailing edge detecting circuit 130, and a trigger pulse P2 and a resetting pulse P3 are sequentially outputted, thereby resetting an FF circuit 127. With an output from an AND circuit 126 brought to a high level, the operation of a printer is restarted. The fitting of a ribbon cassette is discriminated on the basis of the cover-open signal CVS and a ribbon end signal RBS. Accordingly, a misoperation of restarting the operation simultaneously with the fitting of the ribbon cassette is preveted from occurring. |
