PURPOSE:To utilize efficiently the room heating effect by providing a porous body or a body of small construction through which a fluid can pass in the combustion gas discharge passage at its exit. CONSTITUTION:The fuel jetted out from a fuel nozzle 1 is burned in a combustion chamber 3, and the combustion chamber 3 is provided with a flame maintaining device 2 in order to create circulating flow for stable combustion flame. A porous body 4 made of ceramics or other heat resistant materials is heated by the combustion gas and generates infra-red beams by radiation. A heated body protection surface 5 prevents discharge of the combustion gas or its dispersion into rooms and serves to lead the combustion gas to a discharge passage. The emissive power of the heated body is epsilonsigmaT<4>3. But the temperature T2 by which the temperature of a radiation emitting body is restricted because of its heat resistance is significantly higher than T3 because radiation emitting bodies are normally made of material which has low heat conductivity. Room heating devices develop most effective emitting function by utilizing the maximum temperature T2 which a heat resistant material tolerates.
